Australian side ended their innings on 158/4 as the rain reduced the game to just 17 overs per side. Indian bowlers were taken to cleaners by the kangaroo middle order as Stoinis and Maxwell came out all guns blazing against the visitors. The Indian side fell short of four runs despite efforts from Dhawan and Karthik.
Glenn Maxwell proved his critics wrong as he activated his beast mode at the Gabba today. Maxwell 46 runs with a strike rate close to 200 accelerated the innings. His hat-trick sixes off Krunal Pandya reminded us of his IPL 2014 heroics when he had no mercy towards the opposition.
Glenn Maxwell hit the ball straight towards the spider camera today. The Umpire called it a dead ball and the entire dressing room was all smiles after the shot. It is to be noted that Mahendra Singh Dhoni also encountered a similar situation during his record partnership with Yuvraj Singh in 2016 ODI against England. This shot has certainly reminded a lot of Indian as of this instance of Dhoni.
Australia now leads the three-match T20I series 1-0 and it will be interesting if Kohli’s men turn around the things in the second game at Melbourne.
